Students will have mastered the following:

September – June

  1. Write for a variety of purposes including but not limited to controversial, cause and effect, expository, literary reaction/analysis and persuasive essays.
  2. Read and interpret various types of alternate sources; i.e. charts, maps, graphs, primary sources, statistics.
  3. How expansion increased sectionalism and led to the Civil War
  4. Identify the participants, causes and results of the Civil War.
  5. Causes and effects of Industrialization, Urbanization and Immigration.
  6. How Progressives sought to change government to be more responsive to the people.
  7. How Imperialistic events created a more dominate US.
  8. Identify the cause and the US role in World War I.
  9. Identify the lifestyles of the different social classes during the 1920s.
  10. Analyze how the 1920s, the Great Depression and New Deal connect to one another.
